Tips for Cleaning Hardwood Floors
To keep the hardwood floor in its peak condition, more than just having the right cordless vacuum cleaner, you also have to keep in mind the tips that will be mentioned below:
- Occasional deep cleaning is a must, not just vacuuming. You will need to use a special wood cleaner and follow the instructions from the manufacturer. After cleaning, make sure to immediately wipe any excess liquid so that it won’t penetrate on the wood.
- As much as possible, you should vacuum daily. At a minimum, do it at least once in a week. This might seem like a lot of work, but this will be a good preventive measure and will make sure that the floor remains beautiful.
- You should also wax the floor at least once a year, which will be good to keep its shine. This should not be done frequently as it also causes the floor to lose its aesthetics. Mopping, on the other hand, should be avoided.
- Vinegar may be a natural cleaner, but it is not good if you have a hardwood floor. It can dull the appearance of the floor
Prevention is better than cure. Therefore, consider using area rugs and carpets in places with high foot traffic to keep the floor clean and free from damages.

Can anyone recommend a good vacuum cleaner that will do both wood and laminate wood floors + rugs and carpets. They do exists right? Or is it better to get 2 separate ones?
Just need the power on button to be somewhere near the top of the appliance (hand activated) rather than at the bottom (usually done by foot) – due to one of the users having mobility issues. Velvet wheels would be nice so it doesn’t scratch the wooden floors…………or if not velvet it seriously would be nice if the vacuum didn’t actually scratch wooden floors – which is possibly a design floor on these types of models?
